Dallas saxophonist and woodwind artist Justin Pierce is rooted firmly in the jazz tradition, seeking to continue and further the great American artform.
Justin recently completed a master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. While at North Texas, Justin served as a graduate teaching fellow, teaching applied jazz saxophone lessons, directing the Seven O’Clock Lab Band, and assisting with the Three O’Clock Lab Band and the jazz saxophone fundamentals course. He performs jazz regularly with big bands and small groups around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. At the University of North Texas, Justin performed and/or recorded as a member of the One O’Clock Lab Band, Two O’Clock Lab Band, and Latin Jazz Band. While at McNeese State University, he was named outstanding soloist at the 2008 North Texas Jazz Festival in Addison, and toured Romania for two weeks with the jazz ensemble, performing in seven cities.
As a saxophonist and woodwind multi-instrumentalist, Justin has performed with: Darcy James Argue, Terrell Stafford, Wayne Newton, Arturo O’Farrill, Yosvany Terry, Lars Jansson, The Voices of London, Gabriel Alegria, the Rosana Eckert Quartet, “The Rat Pack Is Back” Vegas tribute show, Rogério Boccato and The ÁguaMarinha Trio, and community theater productions of “Footloose”, “Seussical the Musical”, “The Drowsy Chaperone”, “Grease”, “Fame”, and “Working”.
